Day 8 - John Day Fossil - Clarno Unit

I'm sure they'll paint yer car as good as their building. This colour is callered "Early Merican Rust".

The run-in to today's hike in the Clarno Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds.

The ravens love them crazy spires.

Emma Brown Sock hits the trail.

Today's hike is short, just an hour and a half. Emma needs to build back some strength and gain some confidence after being so sick last winter. It's good to be out here.

Of course, all the good stuff is right at the top. That "T" shaped junction just up and left of centre are two petrified logs preserved in a prehistoric mudflow generated by the simultaneous launch of a Jurassic mission to Mars.

Russ has no worries and sits right in the middle of launch central, convincing Emma to join him.

Nuthin' to worry about. The Jurassic Launcher is now just a nice place to have a rest.
